Why is It Important to learn about Poverty in the Education System?
Education plays a key role in the development of children, communities, and countries. Education provides us with knowledge about the world and helps us to develop opinions and point of views that will benefit us in real life scenarios. Not only does education benefit us with knowledge but also helps to lead to career progression. Opening classroom doors to all children will help break the chains of poverty because education is intrinsically linked to all development goals. In many poor countries, education is often hard to receive for many reasons. These reasons include cost, lack of sanitation, and inadequate teachers. As a future educator, I find this topic really important because all children deserve the right to an education no matter what the barriers might be. The second Millennium Development Goal is to ensure that students everywhere complete primary education. However, due to poor conditions millions of students drop out of school before grade five. I have chosen this topic because I feel it is very important that students receive the necessary support to help eliminate some of the barriers. It is important to make others aware of the educational barriers going on in the poorer countries so that they can help support those who are less fortunate.
It is important to educate our students on the topic of poverty and education so that they understand that education is a privilege to them. Globally, many children are not given adequate education because of certain circumstances, however it is a human right and all children deserve the right to it. Children in the US should not take for granted the opportunities that they are given. No matter a child's background they should be given the opportunity to succeed in school in order to make their future better. The biggest part of growing up is making the right choices that benefit you in the future. Education is so powerful because without it many struggle to survive. Investing in education is the single most effective means of reducing poverty.
